Neil is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has worked for over twelve years with children and families in Billings and surrounding communities. He attended Rocky Mountain College, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology with a minor in English writing in 1997. He received his Master's in Social Work in 2005 through the Walla Walla College program in Billings. The focus of degree was clinical aspects of children and families. Throughout Neil's professional life, he has worked with children and families in many capacities and settings including family support work, group homes, and an independent living program assisting teens aging out of foster care and out-of-home placements. Most recently, Neil has worked in a school setting providing therapy to children ages 5-18.
Neil works primarily from a cognitive behavioral therapy model, but incorporates training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, the Stress Model, Play Therapy, Moral Recognition Therapy, the Strengths-Based approach, Attachment Theory, character development and clinical assessment. Providing individual, family and group therapies to his clients, Neil emphasizes the importance of working with families, schools and community treatment teams.
